Holy crap, what a day!!!

30 06 2008

I have been trying to keep myself busy with things, but it isn’t exactly easy to do when there isn’t any work to be done.  I have a few pages for filing, but it isn’t like I can stretch that along to make it go for the next 3 1/2 hours.  I guess I can go try to organize something that Julie hasn’t already organized.  LOL  Days like this are tough.  I’m already tired and not having something to do makes it worse.

So how was everyone’s weekend?  Ours was very eventful with our daughter.  OK so she has been seeing this kid named Chris.  Well maybe I shouldn’t say kid, he is 23 years old, but he acts like a child.  Anyway, she told him that she really didn’t want to be with him and that she just wanted to stay friends with him.  Since her break up with Brandon, she hasn’t been on her own since she was 16.  Well anyway, he just can’t take that and is always trying to be with her.  He comes to work and hangs out at her cash register, tries to kiss her at work, has been looking in her windows if she is home, he will walk into her apartment if she doesn’t lock the door immediately after she gets in there.  He is a stalker.  So yesterday was the last straw with him looking in her windows trying to see her.  Brian and I went to her apartment and asked her if she wanted us to talk to him.  She said yes.  So Brian very calmly went over and told Chris that he needed to quit calling her, texting her, looking in her windows, hanging out at Wal-Mart while she is working, etc.  He said, “Chris, in my opinion, I see you as a stalker.”  I thought Chris’ jaw was going to hit the floor.  Apparently he didn’t see it as stalking.  So all was good and we told Amanda that she needs to cut the ties or what we just said to him would be in vain and it would all continue.  After we had our talk with both of them, my mother in law was trying to get in touch with Amanda to see if she was OK, needless to say, she never answered her phone.  We were getting concerned since we couldn’t reach her either.  We went back to the apartment and low and behold, where was she?  Sitting outside on the steps going to the upper apartments talking to Chris.  Needless to say, we aren’t happy at all.  Does she not realize that he is going to keep stalking her?  He can’t seem to take no as a answer.  I know that now if she has any other troubles with him, she is on her own.  We aren’t going to “help” her out in that situation any longer.

Have a great day and hopefully your Monday isn’t bad at all.  Love, love!!!  XOXOXO

Today’s Verse from the New Living Translation
“Let me have this power, too,” he [Simon] exclaimed, “so that when I lay my hands on people, they will receive the Holy Spirit!”

But Peter replied, “May your money be destroyed with you for thinking God’s gift can be bought! You can have no part in this, for your heart is not right with God. Repent of your wickedness and pray to the Lord. Perhaps he will forgive your evil thoughts, for I can see that you are full of bitter jealousy and are held captive by sin.”

“Pray to the Lord for me,” Simon exclaimed, “that these terrible things you’ve said won’t happen to me!”

Acts 8:19–24

Encouragement for Today
Simon had a heart issue. He was held captive by bitter jealousy and deceived about money and the power of God. He thought he could buy his way to God and his power. Perhaps he was also fearful; Peter never said anything about terrible things happening to him, yet he asked for prayer that nothing bad would happen. Simon needed to see that trust in God and repentance were the way to true power. His point of surrender was his point of liberation.

Can you believe…

26 06 2008

That yesterday was the first time that Brian and I turned our air conditioning on?  Yep, we broke down and switched it over.  It has been actually fairly nice, but the last couple of days, the humidity has been unbearable.  So even though we turned the air on last evening, before we went to bed we did turn it off and had our window open and the fan on.  I did turn it back on this morning just to take the edge off and the animals won’t suffer.

Hope everyone’s summer is going well.  We have just been busy and at work things have been a little crazy.  Not really with projects, but I have been adding one of my Engineers contacts into the system.  There were over 900 contacts.  So that is what I have been working on in between projects and any free time I might have.

Last night Brian and I got into the word and did the daily reading.  We shared with each other what we got out of the reading and probed each other with questions on why we feel a certain way.  It was a great night.  I absolutely love it when we get a chance to get into each others lives deeply and authentically.

Today’s Verse from the New Living Translation
“May he give us the desire to do his will in everything and to obey all the commands, decrees, and regulations that he gave our ancestors.”

1 Kings 8:58

Encouragement for Today
Life with God is about having a heartfelt desire to please him. If you don’t have this desire at the moment—or at any moment—you can pray for it. This might also apply to particular areas we struggle with, such as forgiving someone. We know we should, yet we don’t really want to. Pray is first for the desire to obey, to forgive, or to serve. Whatever it is the Holy Spirit brings to mind, if we can’t immediately obey, we can ask God to change our hearts first.

Hope everyone has a blessed day!!!  Love, love!!!  XOXOXO

Fantastic weekend…

23 06 2008

Well first off, Brian and I had our “community night” on Friday night.  I really enjoyed it.  It is always great to get together with some people to talk about what God has been doing in our lives, showing us things in his word, and just being together in His name.

Saturday morning, Brian, his mom, and I all went to Omaha for the day.  We wanted to go to the Henry Doorly Zoo.  We had an amazing time.  My favorite parts of the zoo were the Desert Dome, the Butterfly exhibit, and the aquarium.  The only thing I could have lived without in the desert dome was the snakes.  Yes they have them caged up, but I am deathly afraid of snakes.  My mother in law made it through about 1/4  of the zoo and Brian and I just kept truckin’ on.  She took the tram back to the beginning and sat there and waited for us to get done.  The weather was great also.  It was about 84 degrees and sunny.  In the aquarium, you can sit in the tunnel and the fish, sting rays, sharks, etc., would swim over your head,  I have some pictures at home that I will add on here later.  One good thing about Omaha for us, is that it is only about a 2 1/2 hour drive for us, and it is a straight shot there.

Lastly, for church service yesterday, the title of the service was “The gospel according to Oprah.”  It was a good service.  She talked about her childhood growing up, the way she would preach the gospel to the kids in the 4th grade, her sexual abuse from family members, the way she got into television, and her “religious” views.  From what I got out of it is that she doesn’t believe that there is only one way to get to the Father.  If you read in John 14:6 Jesus says, “I am the truth, and the way, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”  So knowing what the bible says, how can she not believe that there is only one way to get to the Father?

Well, I hope everyone had a great weekend and have a very blessed day!!!  Love, love!!!  XOXOXO

Today’s Verse from the New Living Translation
May the LORD continually bless you from Zion.
May you see Jerusalem prosper as long as you live.
May you live to enjoy your grandchildren.
    May Israel have peace!Psalm 128:5–6
Encouragement for Today
Turn this into a prayer for blessing. “Lord, please continually bless me from your heavenly throne. May I see my family, my neighborhood, my state, and my country prosper as long as I live. Please let my spouse and me to live to see our grandchildren. May you give our country quietness and peace and help me do whatever I can to foster that peace. Amen.” Of course, you may pray this prayer for your loved ones and your church, as well.

Awe, Tuesday Morning…

17 06 2008

Well, this morning I went to my leadership group at 5:30 am.  It was good this morning.  We did our daily reading and in Colossians 3 it talked about: dress in the wardrobe that God picked out for you.  Well sometimes it isn’t easy to be in that dressing.  I know for me, I do have some issues with a couple of the guys here at work.  They just tend to get under my skin.  I know that today I am being tested with one of them.  It’s really kind of funny though, because he is so…Eddy Haskell!!!

Well, I filled out an application for The Biggest Loser!!!  It would be awesome to get on that show.  I am competitive with what I do, but I also know it will be hard work.  I need to do something.  My weight is outta control and I just can’t seem to get into it on my own.  All I really need to do now is take a picture of myself and do a 10 minute video of my daily life so they can see my personality.

So how is everyone’s week so far?.  Not to bad here.  Brian, his mom, and I are all going to go to the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha on Saturday.  It will be a blast.  Even though I hate wearing shorts, I am going to just because of it being 87 degrees and sunny.  But I’m excited to get out there and take pictures of everything going on.

Anyway, I’m going to get off of here.  I have a ton of stuff to do.  Have a blessed day and keep pressing into Jesus!!!  Love, love!!!

Today’s Verse from the New Living Translation
How joyful are those who fear the LORD—
    all who follow his ways!
You will enjoy the fruit of your labor.
How joyful and prosperous you will be!
Your wife will be like a fruitful grapevine,
    flourishing within your home.
Your children will be like vigorous young olive trees
as they sit around your table.
That is the Lord’s blessing
    for those who fear him.

Psalm 128:1–4

Encouragement for Today
What does a blessed life look like? Here’s the answer: Those who follow God’s ways can generally expect to be joyful, to enjoy the results of their labor, to prosper, and to enjoy family life. This blessing is what the fruit looks like; such fruit springs from the root of following God’s ways. If the root isn’t properly planted, no fruit is possible.

Today’s not so bad…

12 06 2008

I figured that I was going to dread today, but it isn’t all that bad at all.  I feel bad for Julie though.  She has to go to our South office today, tomorrow, and all next week.  Jules and I are the only Team Coordinators for the Northland office.  The Southland office used to have 4 Team Coordinators & 1 receptionist.  Now it is the receptionist and 2 team coordinators, and apparently they are having issues with keeping up with stuff.  Since one of them went on vacation, Julie went to help out down there.

Brian and I are going to go meet with D & B tonight, after my dog gets mad at me for making him see the vet.  LOL  We have a mobile vet here and he is coming over around 5:20 pm.  Then tomorrow I have the mobile groomer coming over to give Buddy a wash and haircut.  So needless to say, he is going to hate me this weekend.  But he will feel so much better being all trimmed up.  It will definitely be cooler for him.  Anyway, like I said, we are meeting D & B tonight up at the church.  After that, Brian has his leadership group at 8 pm, so I will just stay at the church and I will get my reading done and work on my Wounded Heart book for Saturday.  Then tonight, we have to finish our love and respect book that we are doing with another couple.  So far I really like the Love & Respect book.  We are learning things about each other, or maybe I should say, we are learning more about our feelings.  We are only on the 1st chapter, but so far I would recommend this book.

Anyway, I’m going to go, I have things to finish here at work and I will be leaving soon.  Love, love!!!  XOXOXO

Today’s Verse from the New Living Translation

Know the state of your flocks,
and put your heart into caring for your herds,
for riches don’t last forever,
and the crown might not be passed to the next generation.
After the hay is harvested and the new crop appears
and the mountain grasses are gathered in,
your sheep will provide wool for clothing,
and your goats will provide the price of a field.
And you will have enough goats’ milk for yourself,
your family, and your servant girls.

Proverbs 27:23–27

Encouragement for Today

Who or what are your “flocks,” your herds, the source of your wealth? Are they your skills, the people you know, your knowledge? Whatever they are, tend them well. Keep adding to them. Realize that external events (economics, politics) will change, but if you have a solid source of provision, you’ll be protected from the vagaries of outside change. Note, too, that your faithfulness to earning your living affects others—your family and those who depend on you. Know the state of your flocks, and tend them well—with heart!

Results…

9 06 2008

Sorry I didn’t type anything since last Wednesday.

Friday I did go the neurologist, had my follow up visit and he did the EMG (electromyogram).  Well, I can honestly say that the EMG wasn’t as bad as I expected.  Anyway, after the test, he went over the results along with all the other tests and blood work I had done 3 weeks ago, and everything came out within normal range.  He said that we will not do any other tests since the numbness isn’t progressing.  He was actually kind enough to say that the tests are very expensive and he just didn’t see any reason to go any further.  When my husband asked him about the numbness happening and what he does he think it could be, Dr. Goodman said that it still could be a mild form of MS, but he does want me to come see him in a year and have another MRI done just to keep an eye on the 4 spots on my brain.  Other then that, I’m as healthy as a horse.  It is good news, but it also is nerve racking not knowing exactly what is going on.  Other then that, I feel fine, I just have the lazys.

Hope everyone has a blessed day!!!  Love, love!!!  XOXOXO

Today’s Verse from the New Living Translation

Unless the LORD builds a house,
the work of the builders is wasted.
Unless the LORD protects a city,
guarding it with sentries will do no good.
It is useless for you to work so hard
from early morning until late at night,
anxiously working for food to eat;
for God gives rest to his loved ones.

Psalm 127:1–2

Encouragement for Today

Do you regularly feel rested, at ease as you go through your day? Or are you anxiously trying to make ends meet, get caught up, and keep all the juggling balls in the air? This verse suggests that if we’re harried and hurried, perhaps we’re doing things we don’t necessarily need to do. Only those things that God is behind matter anyway. Claim God’s rest today. Pray about what he wants you to do and then do only that. Trust him, not your own anxious efforts, to provide for your needs.

It’s hump day…

4 06 2008

WooHoo, basically one more day of work for me.  I will be here on Friday, but only until 9:15 am.  I’m starting to get kind of anxious about the test on Friday.  I know that it will be a little painful, but I am preparing myself for that.  Brian cracked me up yesterday.  He is going to go with me for the test and wanted to know what the test involved.  I sent him a document on what an EMG is.  After he read it, he felt better about the test and said, “You know, with your tattoo and piercing history, at least anyone who can lay there for 5 hours and get their whole calf tattooed without moving, I don’t think I’m going to worry about anything, you’ll be just fine.”  I just laughed at him and said, “You’re probably right.”

So anyway, we found out that my father in law has been drinking like a fish.  Not good for a man in his condition.  He has had a stroke that has caused problems with his speech, he has a pace maker and a defibulator, he’s on blood thinners, and I can’t remember what else is wrong with him.  I guess my mother in law has been telling him that he needs to quit drinking or it will kill him.  Of course he isn’t listening.  But she said it is worse since he started a bunch of crap with my husband.  It is just nuts, seriously.

Today has been a little better.  For the last 2 days, I must have pulled something in my back, right across the center of my back.  Talk about painful.  At least now it is better, but man don’t like to sit on my butt all day long.  I really don’t like being stiff every time I get up.  I sound like an old woman.  LOL

Today’s Verse from the New Living Translation
As workers who tend a fig tree are allowed to eat the fruit,
so workers who protect their employers interests will be rewarded.Proverbs 27:18
Encouragement for Today
Do you look out for the interests of your employer? If you do, you’ll be rewarded. What if you work at home—who’s your employer then? Well, whom do you serve? Your family. So looking out for your family’s interests leads to reward. What about if you own your own business? In that case, your employer may be your clients or customers. If you’re a teacher, your employer is your students. Whomever you serve, when you protect their interests, you’ll be rewarded.

Hope everyone has a blessed day.  Love, love!!!

This past weekend…

2 06 2008

Oh boy, what a weekend.  First off, Friday night we get a call from Brian’s step-brother wondering what was going on with his dad.  We had no idea what he was talking about.  Come to find out, Brian’s step-dad was gripping about Brian and what an a-hole he is.  He has always felt that Brian was his competition.  He always competed for the affection of his mother, ever since he was 2 years old.  This has been going on for 39 years.  Just in the past 5 years, it has gotten worse, and this past weekend was the worst yet.  It has just been a stressful weekend for Brian and the family.  It is taking a toll on the kids too.

Please pray for Brian.  He is on the edge of the fence just teetering back and forth, and now he is sick at his stomach about everything.  I also need to say, thanks B for coming over yesterday.  Brian did say that he felt a little better after the discussion.  Brian and I did get in the word, journaled, and prayed together.  I did give all praise to God letting him know that I know there is a lesson in there and just show me what it is that we are to be learning about.  Tough stuff!!!

Other then that going on all weekend, my mother in law did come over yesterday, along with both kids and we cooked out on the grill.  It was nice for all of us to sit down and eat together again.  I was glad both the kids were able to be there together.  We never get to have that opportunity, being with both the kids together.

Today’s Verse from the New Living Translation

Then King Solomon conscripted a labor force of 30,000 men from all Israel. He sent them to Lebanon in shifts, 10,000 every month, so that each man would be one month in Lebanon and two months at home.

1 Kings 5:13–14

Encouragement for Today

Finding a balance between work and home is increasingly difficult for both men and women. Perhaps these verses give us a clue as to a healthy pattern: work one-third of your time, and let the rest be for home and personal time. In fact, the typical eight-hour day reflects this balance. Are you overworking?

Hope everyone has a blessed day.  Always give glory to God and praise him in everything that is going on in your life.  There is a purpose for everything.  Keep pressing into Jesus!!!  XOXOXO
